Chosen by our sommeliers and decanted into glass bottles on the morning your order is sent out, this is the chance to recreate our Wine Pairing at home...
An aperitif to share, 2 glasses of white, 2 glasses of red and a small glass each of something sweet to finish things off.
As in the restaurants, we offer 2 different pairings - a House Pairing of favourites, and A Cellar Selection of fine wines..
House Pairing for 2 - £39
Aperitif
2019 Domaine Laballe Terres Basses Blanc (250ml bottle)
Family-owned since the 1820s, Laballe in Gascony produce provincial wines of brilliant precision. This blend of gros manseng and colombard makes a fine aperitif with more body than you might expect. Rising temperatures have turned Gascony into something closer to Provence and their wines shoe it!
White
2019 Fornaro, Soave Classico, Veneto (250ml bottle)
A classic Soave, ripe peach & stone fruit from a producer who doesn't simply rely on the name and makes interesting and modern wines. This is back this week by popular demand and will go wonderfully well with this week's rich starter.
Red
2015 Chateau Carignan (250ml bottle)
A superb claret to which we return vintage after vintage. Lovely milk chocolate humidor nose and cassis-y Merlot fruit.
Sweet
NV Moscatel Dorado, Cesar Florido (150ml bottle)
A bit of fun from a great producer in Jerez. These old moscatel vines produce a beautifully ripe, sultan-y treat. Like this week's dessert, it is no shrinking violet and they should be very happy together.
Cellar Selection Pairing for 2 - £59
Aperitif
2018 Domaine Denizot, Rosé, Sancerre (250ml bottle)
Beautiful red-berry crispness from this delightful Loire rose. More subtle and complex than many a Provencal compatriot
White
2018 Ca’ di Mat, Valautin, Madrid (250ml bottle)
A supremely elegant example of the fat and juicy albillo grape, experiencing a rebirth in the super-trendy vineyards bordering the city limits of Madrid. Lovely, rich herbaceous structure makes a great foil for a starter with lots going on
Red
2016 Waterford Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (250ml bottle)
A main course like the pithivier commands a big, brooding red as a partner and this is one of our favourites. Cassis and licorice on the palate, this is clean and elegant Stellenbosch winemaking at its best.
Sweet
2011 Clos de L'Elu Coteaux de Layon (150ml bottle)
A lighter style of sweet Chenin Blanc, with a brilliant amount of age. Our last few bottles and not much of it left of it anywhere!
